We are usually asked why we decided to venture into cashew processing and if this would be what we majorly sell. In response to the latter, cashew was chosen to be our pioneer project due to the abundance of raw materials and the dearth of processing facilities in the country. We can assure you that our product offerings will increase with time as there is a concerted effort to incorporate more soft commodities sooner rather than later.
With regard to the former, Nigeria is one of the world’s leading raw cashew nut (RCN) producers and is reputed for its export quality grade cashews. However, Nigeria, as well as other african cashew producing countries process only about 10% of their total annual production. Processing cashew nuts for the local market and export to countries with high demand for cashew nuts is a gap in the market that needs to be bridged.
There are several opportunities staring at us in this industry due to the increasing consumer awareness of the health benefits of cashew nuts – as there are lots of people who now understand the dietary benefits of cashew nuts through education and awareness campaigns of healthy living and eating lifestyles. There are few processors of cashew nuts in Nigeria which means there’s reduced competition within the local market. Our entrance into the industry will also increase the statistics of processed cashew nuts in Nigeria and increase the potential returns from exports.
